1. Then said Solomon, The LORD hath said that he would dwell in the thick darkness.

3. And the king turned his face, and blessed the whole congregation of Israel: and all the congregation of Israel stood.

4. And he said, Blessed be the LORD God of Israel, who hath with his hands fulfilled that which he spake with his mouth to my father David, saying,

5. Since the day that I brought forth my people out of the land of Egypt I chose no city among all the tribes of Israel to build an house in, that my name might be there; neither chose I any man to be a ruler over my people Israel:
5. "Depuis le jour où j`ai fait sortir mon peuple du pays d`Égypte, je n`ai point choisi de ville parmi toutes les tribus d`Israël pour qu`il y fût bâti une maison où résidât mon nom, et je n`ai point choisi d`homme pour qu`il fût chef de mon peuple d`Israël;"
5. "Hatramin' ny andro nitondrako ny oloko nivoaka avy tamin' ny tany Egypta dia tsy mbola nisy tanàna nofidiko tamin' ireo fokon' ny Isiraely rehetra hanaovana trano mba hitoeran' ny anarako ; ary tsy nisy olona nofidiko ho mpanapaka ny Isiraely oloko;"
6. But I have chosen Jerusalem, that my name might be there; and have chosen David to be over my people Israel.
6. mais j`ai choisi Jérusalem pour que mon nom y résidât, et j`ai choisi David pour qu`il régnât sur mon peuple d`Israël!

7. Now it was in the heart of David my father to build an house for the name of the LORD God of Israel.
7. David, mon père, avait l`intention de bâtir une maison au nom de l`Éternel, le Dieu d`Israël.

8. But the LORD said to David my father, Forasmuch as it was in thine heart to build an house for my name, thou didst well in that it was in thine heart:
8. Et l`Éternel dit à David, mon père: Puisque tu as eu l`intention de bâtir une maison à mon nom, tu as bien fait d`avoir eu cette intention.

9. Notwithstanding thou shalt not build the house; but thy son which shall come forth out of thy loins, he shall build the house for my name.
9. "Seulement, ce ne sera pas toi qui bâtiras la maison; mais ce sera ton fils, sorti de tes entrailles, qui bâtira la maison à mon nom."
9. Kanefa tsy ianao no hanao ny trano, fa ny zanakao izay haterakao, izy no hanao ny trano ho an' ny anarako.
10. The LORD therefore hath performed his word that he hath spoken: for I am risen up in the room of David my father, and am set on the throne of Israel, as the LORD promised, and have built the house for the name of the LORD God of Israel.
10. L`Éternel a accompli la parole qu`il avait prononcée. Je me suis élevé à la place de David, mon père, et je me suis assis sur le trône d`Israël, comme l`avait annoncé l`Éternel, et j`ai bâti la maison au nom de l`Éternel, le Dieu d`Israël.

11. And in it have I put the ark, wherein is the covenant of the LORD, that he made with the children of Israel.

Solomon's Prayer of Dedication
12. And he stood before the altar of the LORD in the presence of all the congregation of Israel, and spread forth his hands:
12. Salomon se plaça devant l`autel de l`Éternel, en face de toute l`assemblée d`Israël, et il étendit ses mains.

13. For Solomon had made a brasen scaffold of five cubits long, and five cubits broad, and three cubits high, and had set it in the midst of the court: and upon it he stood, and kneeled down upon his knees before all the congregation of Israel, and spread forth his hands toward heaven,
13. "Car Salomon avait fait une tribune d`airain, et l`avait mise au milieu du parvis; elle était longue de cinq coudées, large de cinq coudées, et haute de trois coudées; il s`y plaça, se mit à genoux en face de toute l`assemblée d`Israël, et étendit ses mains vers le ciel. Et il dit:"
13. 14. And said, O LORD God of Israel, there is no God like thee in the heaven, nor in the earth; which keepest covenant, and shewest mercy unto thy servants, that walk before thee with all their hearts:
14. O Éternel, Dieu d`Israël! Il n`y a point de Dieu semblable à toi, dans les cieux et sur la terre: tu gardes l`alliance et la miséricorde envers tes serviteurs qui marchent en ta présence de tout leur coeur!
14. "Ka nanao hoe: Ry Jehovah, Andriamanitry ny Isiraely ô, tsy misy Andriamanitra tahaka Anao, na any an-danitra, na ety an-tany, Izay mitandrina fanekena ary maneho famindrampo amin' ny mpanomponao, izay mandeha eo anatrehanao amin' ny fony rehetra;"
15. Thou which hast kept with thy servant David my father that which thou hast promised him; and spakest with thy mouth, and hast fulfilled it with thine hand, as it is this day.
15. "Ainsi tu as tenu parole à ton serviteur David, mon père; et ce que tu as déclaré de ta bouche, tu l`accomplis en ce jour par ta puissance."

16. Now therefore, O LORD God of Israel, keep with thy servant David my father that which thou hast promised him, saying, There shall not fail thee a man in my sight to sit upon the throne of Israel; yet so that thy children take heed to their way to walk in my law, as thou hast walked before me.
16. Maintenant, Éternel, Dieu d`Israël, observe la promesse que tu as faite à David, mon père, en disant: Tu ne manqueras jamais devant moi d`un successeur assis sur le trône d`Israël, pourvu que tes fils prennent garde à leur voie et qu`ils marchent dans ma loi comme tu as marché en ma présence.
16. Koa tanteraho amin' ny Davida raiko mpanomponao, ry Jehovah Andriamanitry ny Isiraely ô, ilay nampanantenainao azy hoe: Tsy ho diso olona eo anatrehako ianao hipetraka eo amin' ny sezafiandrianan' ny Isiraely, raha ny zanakao mitandrina ny lalany ka mandeha amin' ny lalàko, tahaka ny nandehananao teo anatrehako.
17. Now then, O LORD God of Israel, let thy word be verified, which thou hast spoken unto thy servant David.
17. Qu`elle s`accomplisse donc, Éternel, Dieu d`Israël, la promesse que tu as faite à ton serviteur David!
17. Koa ankehitriny, ry Jehovah, Andriamanitry ny Isiraely ô, aoka ho to anie ny teninao, izay nolazainao tamin' i Davida mpanomponao.
18. But will God in very deed dwell with men on the earth? behold, heaven and the heaven of heavens cannot contain thee; how much less this house which I have built!
18. Mais quoi! Dieu habiterait-il véritablement avec l`homme sur la terre? Voici, les cieux et les cieux des cieux ne peuvent te contenir: combien moins cette maison que j`ai bâtie!
18. Andriamanitra va dia honina amin' ny olona ety an-tany tokoa? He! ny lanitra, ary ny lanitry ny lanitra aza, tsy omby Anao, koa mainka fa ity trano nataoko ity!
19. Have respect therefore to the prayer of thy servant, and to his supplication, O LORD my God, to hearken unto the cry and the prayer which thy servant prayeth before thee:
19. "Toutefois, Éternel mon Dieu, sois attentif à la prière de ton serviteur et à sa supplication; écoute le cri et la prière que t`adresse ton serviteur."
19. Koa atreho ny fivavaka sy ny fifonan' ny mpanomponao, Jehovah Andriamanitro ô, mba hohenoinao ny fitarainana sy ny fivavaka izay ataon' ny mpanomponao eto anatrehanao,
20. That thine eyes may be open upon this house day and night, upon the place whereof thou hast said that thou wouldest put thy name there; to hearken unto the prayer which thy servant prayeth toward this place.
20. Que tes yeux soient jour et nuit ouverts sur cette maison, sur le lieu dont tu as dit que là serait ton nom! Écoute la prière que ton serviteur fait en ce lieu.
20. Mba hihiratan' ny masonao andro aman' alina amin' ity trano ity, dia amin' ny fitoerana nolazainao fa ao no hasianao ny Anaranao, hihainoanao ny vavaka izay ataon' ny mpanomponao manatrika ity fitoerana ity.
21. Hearken therefore unto the supplications of thy servant, and of thy people Israel, which they shall make toward this place: hear thou from thy dwelling place, even from heaven; and when thou hearest, forgive.
21. Daigne exaucer les supplications de ton serviteur et de ton peuple d`Israël, lorsqu`ils prieront en ce lieu! Exauce du lieu de ta demeure, des cieux, exauce et pardonne!
21. "Noho izany, henoy ny fifonan' ny mpanomponao sy ny Isiraely olonao, izay hataony manatrika ity fitoerana ity; mihainoa any an-danitra fonenanao Ianao, ary rehefa mihaino Ianao, dia mamelà."
22. If a man sin against his neighbour, and an oath be laid upon him to make him swear, and the oath come before thine altar in this house;
22. Si quelqu`un pèche contre son prochain et qu`on lui impose un serment pour le faire jurer, et s`il vient jurer devant ton autel, dans cette maison,
22. Raha misy olona manota amin' ny namany, ary ampianianiny, ka tonga hianiana eo anoloan' ny alitaranao amin' ity trano ity izy,
23. Then hear thou from heaven, and do, and judge thy servants, by requiting the wicked, by recompensing his way upon his own head; and by justifying the righteous, by giving him according to his righteousness.
23. "écoute-le des cieux, agis, et juge tes serviteurs; condamne le coupable, et fais retomber sa conduite sur sa tête, rends justice à l`innocent, et traite-le selon son innocence!"

24. And if thy people Israel be put to the worse before the enemy, because they have sinned against thee; and shall return and confess thy name, and pray and make supplication before thee in this house;
24. "Quand ton peuple d`Israël sera battu par l`ennemi, pour avoir péché contre toi; s`ils reviennent à toi et rendent gloire à ton nom, s`ils t`adressent des prières et des supplications dans cette maison,"
24. Raha resy eo anoloan' ny fahavalo ny Isiraely olonao noho ny nanotany taminao, ary miverina sy manaiky ny anaranao indray ka mivavaka sy mifona eto anatrehanao amin' ity trano ity izy,
25. Then hear thou from the heavens, and forgive the sin of thy people Israel, and bring them again unto the land which thou gavest to them and to their fathers.
25. exauce-les des cieux, pardonne le péché de ton peuple d`Israël, et ramène-les dans le pays que tu as donné à eux et à leurs pères!
25. Dia mihainoa any an-danitra Ianao, ka mamelà ny fahotan' ny Isiraely olonao, ary ampodio amin' ny tany nomenao azy sy ny razany izy.
26. When the heaven is shut up, and there is no rain, because they have sinned against thee; yet if they pray toward this place, and confess thy name, and turn from their sin, when thou dost afflict them;
26. "Quand le ciel sera fermé et qu`il n`y aura point de pluie, à cause de leurs péchés contre toi; s`ils prient dans ce lieu et rendent gloire à ton nom, et s`ils se détournent de leurs péchés, parce que tu les auras châtiés;"
26. Raha mihantona ny andro, ka tsy misy ranonorana noho ny nanotan' ny olona taminao, ary mivavaka manatrika ity fitoerana ity izy ka manaiky ny anaranao sady miala amin' ny fahotany, satria ampahorinao,
27. Then hear thou from heaven, and forgive the sin of thy servants, and of thy people Israel, when thou hast taught them the good way, wherein they should walk; and send rain upon thy land, which thou hast given unto thy people for an inheritance.
27. exauce-les des cieux, pardonne le péché de tes serviteurs et de ton peuple d`Israël, à qui tu enseigneras la bonne voie dans laquelle ils doivent marcher, et fais venir la pluie sur la terre que tu as donnée pour héritage à ton peuple!
27. Dia mihainoa any an-danitra Ianao, ka mamelà ny fahotan' ny mpanomponao sy ny Isiraely olonao, satria atoronao azy ny lalana tsara izay tokony halehany, ary mandatsaha ranonorana amin' ny taninao, izay nomenao ho lovan' ny olonao.
28. If there be dearth in the land, if there be pestilence, if there be blasting, or mildew, locusts, or caterpillers; if their enemies besiege them in the cities of their land; whatsoever sore or whatsoever sickness there be:
28. "Quand la famine, la peste, la rouille et la nielle, les sauterelles d`une espèce ou d`une autre, seront dans le pays, quand l`ennemi assiégera ton peuple dans son pays, dans ses portes, quand il y aura des fléaux ou des maladies quelconques;"
28. "Raha misy mosary amin' ny tany, raha misy areti-mandringana, raha misy fahamainan' ny rivotra ny vary, na maty fotsy, na misy valala na sompanga, raha misy fahavalony manao fahirano azy ao amin' ny taniny, dia ao amin' ny tanànany, na inona fahoriana, na inona aretina;"
29. Then what prayer or what supplication soever shall be made of any man, or of all thy people Israel, when every one shall know his own sore and his own grief, and shall spread forth his hands in this house:
29. si un homme, si tout ton peuple d`Israël fait entendre des prières et des supplications, et que chacun reconnaisse sa plaie et sa douleur et étende les mains vers cette maison,
29. "Koa izay vavaka rehetra sy fifonana rehetra ataon' ny olona, na ny Isiraely olonao rehetra, izay samy hahalala ny fahoriany sy ny alahelony avy, ka hamelatra ny tanany manatrika ity trano ity izy;"
30. Then hear thou from heaven thy dwelling place, and forgive, and render unto every man according unto all his ways, whose heart thou knowest; (for thou only knowest the hearts of the children of men:)
30. "exauce-le des cieux, du lieu de ta demeure, et pardonne; rends à chacun selon ses voies, toi qui connais le coeur de chacun, car seul tu connais le coeur des enfants des hommes,"
30. "Dia mihainoa any an-danitra fonenanao Ianao, ka mamelà heloka ary omeo ny olona tsirairay araka ny alehany avy, fa fantatrao ny fony (fa Ianao irery ihany no mahalala ny fon' ny zanak' olombelona);"
31. That they may fear thee, to walk in thy ways, so long as they live in the land which thou gavest unto our fathers.
31. et ils te craindront pour marcher dans tes voies tout le temps qu`ils vivront dans le pays que tu as donné à nos pères!
31. Mba hatahorany Anao sy handehanany amin' ny lalanao amin' ny andro rehetra hiainany ety amin' ny tany nomenao ny razanay.
32. Moreover concerning the stranger, which is not of thy people Israel, but is come from a far country for thy great name's sake, and thy mighty hand, and thy stretched out arm; if they come and pray in this house;
32. Quand l`étranger, qui n`est pas de ton peuple d`Israël, viendra d`un pays lointain, à cause de ton grand nom, de ta main forte et de ton bras étendu, quand il viendra prier dans cette maison,
32. Ary koa mikasika ny vahiny izay tsy isan' ny Isiraely olonao, fa tonga avy any amin' ny tany lavitra noho ny amin' ny anaranao lehibe sy ny tananao mahery ary ny sandrinao ahinjitra, koa raha avy izy ka mivavaka manatrika ity trano ity,
33. Then hear thou from the heavens, even from thy dwelling place, and do according to all that the stranger calleth to thee for; that all people of the earth may know thy name, and fear thee, as doth thy people Israel, and may know that this house which I have built is called by thy name.
33. exauce-le des cieux, du lieu de ta demeure, et accorde à cet étranger tout ce qu`il te demandera, afin que tous les peuples de la terre connaissent ton nom pour te craindre, comme ton peuple d`Israël, et sachent que ton nom est invoqué sur cette maison que j`ai bâtie!
33. Dia mihainoa any an-danitra fonenanao Ianao, ka manaova araka izay rehetra iantsoan' ny vahiny anao, mba ho fantatry ny firenena rehetra ambonin' ny tany ny anaranao, sy hatahorany Anao tahaka ny ataon' ny Isiraely olonao ihany, ary mba ho fantany fa ity trano izay nataoko ity dia antsoina amin' ny anaranao.
34. If thy people go out to war against their enemies by the way that thou shalt send them, and they pray unto thee toward this city which thou hast chosen, and the house which I have built for thy name;
34. "Quand ton peuple sortira pour combattre ses ennemis, en suivant la voie que tu lui auras prescrite; s`ils t`adressent des prières, les regards tournés vers cette ville que tu as choisie et vers la maison que j`ai bâtie en ton nom,"
34. Raha mivoaka hiady amin' ny fahavalony ny olonao, na ho aiza na ho aiza no hanirahanao azy, ka mivavaka aminao manandrify ity trano izay nataoko ho an' ny anaranao ity,
35. Then hear thou from the heavens their prayer and their supplication, and maintain their cause.
35. exauce des cieux leurs prières et leurs supplications, et fais-leur droit!
35. Dia henoy any an-danitra ny fivavany sy ny fifonany, ka omeo rariny izy.
36. If they sin against thee, (for there is no man which sinneth not,) and thou be angry with them, and deliver them over before their enemies, and they carry them away captives unto a land far off or near;
36. "Quand ils pécheront contre toi, car il n`y a point d`homme qui ne pèche, quand tu seras irrité contre eux et que tu les livreras à l`ennemi, qui les emmènera captifs dans un pays lointain ou rapproché;"
36. Raha manota aminao izy (fa tsy misy olombelona tsy manota), ka tezitra aminy Ianao ary manolotra azy eo anoloan' ny fahavalony, ka dia entin' ny mpamabo ho babo any amin' ny tany, na ho lavitra, na ho akaiky izy,
37. Yet if they bethink themselves in the land whither they are carried captive, and turn and pray unto thee in the land of their captivity, saying, We have sinned, we have done amiss, and have dealt wickedly;
37. s`ils rentrent en eux-mêmes dans le pays où ils seront captifs, s`ils reviennent à toi et t`adressent des supplications dans le pays de leur captivité, et qu`ils disent: Nous avons péché, nous avons commis des iniquités, nous avons fait le mal!
37. "Ary mahatsiaro any amin' ny tany nitondrana azy ho babo izy ka miverina sy mivavaka aminao any amin' ny tany izay nitondrana azy ho babo ary manao hoe: Efa nanota izahay sady efa nanao fahadisoana sy efa nanao ratsy;"
38. If they return to thee with all their heart and with all their soul in the land of their captivity, whither they have carried them captives, and pray toward their land, which thou gavest unto their fathers, and toward the city which thou hast chosen, and toward the house which I have built for thy name:
38. s`ils reviennent à toi de tout leur coeur et de toute leur âme, dans le pays de leur captivité où ils ont été emmenés captifs, s`ils t`adressent des prières, les regards tournés vers leur pays que tu as donné à leurs pères, vers la ville que tu as choisie et vers la maison que j`ai bâtie à ton nom,
38. "Raha miverina aminao amin' ny fony rehetra sy ny fanahiny rehetra izy ao amin' ny tanin' ny fahababoany, dia izay nitondrana azy ho babo, ka mivavaka manandrify ny taniny izay nomenao ny razany, sy ny tanàna izay nofidinao ary manandrify ny trano izay naoriko ho an' ny anaranao ;"
39. Then hear thou from the heavens, even from thy dwelling place, their prayer and their supplications, and maintain their cause, and forgive thy people which have sinned against thee.
39. "exauce des cieux, du lieu de ta demeure, leurs prières et leurs supplications, et fais-leur droit; pardonne à ton peuple ses péchés contre toi!"
39. "Dia henoy any an-danitra, any amin' ny fonenanao ny fivavany sy ny fifonany ka omeo rariny izy; ary mamelà ny olonao izay efa nanota taminao."
40. Now, my God, let, I beseech thee, thine eyes be open, and let thine ears be attent unto the prayer that is made in this place.
40. Maintenant, ô mon Dieu, que tes yeux soient ouverts, et que tes oreilles soient attentives à la prière faite en ce lieu!
40. Ankehitriny, ry Andriamanitro ô mifona aminao aho, aoka hihiratra ny masonao, ary aoka ny sofinao hihaino ny vavaka atao amin' ity fitoerana ity.
41. Now therefore arise, O LORD God, into thy resting place, thou, and the ark of thy strength: let thy priests, O LORD God, be clothed with salvation, and let thy saints rejoice in goodness.
41. Maintenant, Éternel Dieu, lève-toi, viens à ton lieu de repos, toi et l`arche de ta majesté! Que tes sacrificateurs, Éternel Dieu, soient revêtus de salut, et que tes bien-aimés jouissent du bonheur!
41. "Koa ankehitriny mitsangàna, ry Jehovah Andriamanitra ô ho amin' ny fitoeran' ny fitsaharanao, dia Ianao sy ny fiaran' ny herinao; aoka ny mpisoronao hitafy famonjena, Jehovah Andriamanitra ô, ary aoka ny olonao masina hifaly amin' ny soa."
42. O LORD God, turn not away the face of thine anointed: remember the mercies of David thy servant.
42. Éternel Dieu, ne repousse pas ton oint, souviens-toi des grâces accordées à David, ton serviteur!
